My comics debut

The following posts are my very  first comic pages to have been published, in the magazine Massad. I'm not quite sure about the date, but it must have been around 1988/1989 I think.

I have always had a thing for squatting women. It has to do with the bulging musculature, the straining and keeping the balance, I guess :)

Also, even in this very early work you can find another theme that comes back quite often in my stories: that of the authoritarian role reversal

Here are two more fake covers. The 'Zahra, Queen of the Jungle' one was a one off, but I have done a series of the Ladies Muscle covers.

Some thoughts about the way I work...

A little insight on how my pages are made... :)

One layer

I would like to tell you a bit about the way I work, and the two different ways I go about constructing a page. Sometimes, I pencil the whole page out in full. After that, I will trace it with one or more Micron pens. Then I scan the traced image and the rest of the work will be done on the computer in photoshop. In this case, I usually work in one layer only, putting on the color, the shades, and the highlights, creating the different materials. This is the way I produce ...

But sometimes, I take a different route. I'll concentrate only on the figures in the new page at first. I'll make a pencil drawing of him or her (or them, one by one), and, after tracing and scanning, proceed to work the single figure out in full.

Now sometimes, I will stop there, as the image is powerful enough for my taste, and present this as a new drawing. But at other times, I will use another layer as a background. That may consist of some simple geometric form...
