Uh, a black hole isnt a giant hole, its like any other celestial body, like a planet or star, so you orbit a black hole just like you can orbit a planet without falling into it. Orbiting is just perpetually falling but u miss the planet or celestial object. Hell, our whole galaxy is orbiting a super-massive blackhole. When they say nothing can escape a black hole, its when you get to it's event horizon, where not even light can escape because gravity is just so intense. Its weird concept to get your head around, but inside the event horizon theres just highly compressed matter, with gravity so strong, that time, space and light get sucked in. So you have all this matter Outside of its event horizon gravitional forces are relatively similar to any other star so long as your not in a decaying orbit, and dont hit the point of no return.

This two-parter remains to this day one of my favorites in Doctor Who. Yes, there are plot-holes all over the place, but Doctor Who always is. And I adore this one. The concept, the music, the characters, the rerouting, the ood... All of it. Even the corny lines! :D Definitely my favorite episodes from s2 I think. I don't know what it is about it. I just love discussions about religion and science and concepts of ancient evils. And the Doctor questioning his own beliefs, as well as that ending, where not everything is given a clear answer. And I love it. I think my favorite moment from the episode is The Doctor and Ida's conversation as he's descending into the pit. It just brings that little bit of sci-fi philosophy into it which I adore. Also Full Length was AMAZING for this episode. :D So many good bits everywhere. I'm glad Eric was as upset as I was over the ood. They didn't deserve that - they got possessed! And also were treated kind of terribly even before that! Daredevil on the table made me laugh. Also thank you Lono for the headsup about GotG2 spoilers! Now I will sit here and listen to the soundtrack for this while having Calvin saying "ood" playing in my mind. Constantly. It's rather disturbing.
