Nepolabo 5th Anniversary Fan Project ๐

It's NePoLaBo 5th anniversary! And to celebrate, the fans joined together to make a short animation that is being displayed on the giant Yunika Vision screens in Shinjuku. From 7 AMโ11 PM / Every hour at 22 min and 52 min until August 18th. Are any of you guys in Japan? If not, there's also a high quality 4K version on Youtube!

I have been invited to work on fan anniversary projects before, but I never had the time. And even though I'm still pretty busy this year, it had been a while since I animated anything nepolabo related. And I do love Gen 5 a lot! So I felt compelled to join in this time!
I mostly animated the mascots and the side screens. And I did go all-out with these rigs. The amount of control over Zain's hat is crazy! Hands down one of the best things I ever done in After Effects (not the whole character, just the hat ๐ฉ). Spent more time rigging than animating! ๐คฃ Severely underestimated the time it would take... but everything kinda worked out in the end, so it's all good ๐
