Simway Status Update

Hey all! No dev diary this week – I've been sick for the better part of the last 2 weeks, so I haven't gotten much done aside from remaking some of the CC for Simway. Fortunately, I'm starting to feel better, so hopefully I'll have more done for the next one.

I didn't want to leave you in the dark, especially now that I finally have a consistent schedule for posting dev diaries bi-weekly. So, I figured I'd just make a post summarizing where I'm at with Simway, with some screenshots.

This is a work-in-progress mod. It is not available for download at this time, not even for patrons. Everything described in this post is subject to change.

First and foremost, the products

MLM gameplay would be pretty boring without anything to sell, so let's start with the products I've made so far. Only Simway (health & wellness products) and Plumbonne (self-care & beauty) have functional products so far; Llamaware (kitchenware & household gadgets) is still in planning.

When you join an MLM or order new stock as an MLM member, you'll get one of these boxes in the mail (depending on which MLM you are a part of).

Opening these boxes will yield 20 assorted products from your MLM's lineup.

For Simway, this currently includes drinkable supplements (affects mood and needs) and sleep aid pills (drains energy). More products, such as weight management pills, "healthy" snacks, etc. are planned.

As for Plumbonne, only five bath bombs (affects mood) have been created. More products, such as lotions, essential oils, and of course, an antiviral horse dewormer, are planned.

One of these bath bombs is a little... hm. I wonder how that got in there. Anyways, as mentioned before, Llamaware does not have any functional CC created so far, but ideas for it include food storage, kitchen gadgets & clutter, and, uh... Not sure what else.

Ideas, anyone? If you have any ideas fitting the themes of the 3 MLMs, feel free to drop them in the comments of this post, or on my Discord. I especially need some motivation for Llamaware, but please, keep in mind the complexity in both design and functionality of the objects.

How do I get my virtual hands on these one-of-a-kind, industry-leading, top-quality products???

First off, calm down. Second, you have to find a consultant (unless you wanna cheat, then you can just shift-click a computer to purchase unlimited amounts). You can find a consultant online, be called by one*, be asked during a conversation in public, have one show up at your door*, or attend a selling party... If you want products, they'll find you.

* = Events such as phone calls and door-to-door sales are limited to once a week, to reduce spam. This can be further play-tested and tweaked during alpha/beta testing. If you still find it annoying, it can be toggled off entirely on a per-sim basis.

Seller sims have a limited stock, so you may need to wait until they have your products in stock, or buy from other members while you wait. Note that all products are currently set at §25 just for development; prices will be balanced better before alpha testing begins.

Hey, bestie! Ready to change your life?

Of course, sims also need to be able to recruit each other. That's kinda like, the whole point. So, let's talk about ✨ solicitation ✨. Your sims will be approached for recruitment in similar ways that they are sold to, such as via phone calls, during conversations, etc.

Your sims may get occasional phone calls from one of the default MLM members, such as our lovely neighborhood HOA watchdog, Karen (the default Simway consultant). The NPCs for the other MLMs are still being improved, Karen is so far the only one that truly fits The Vibe™ well enough.

If you agree, Karen will hook you up with a free* starter kit! (* = Just pay the non-refundable starter fee of §500). If you don't, well... Let's just say she won't be too pleased. Once in an MLM, you can continue the cycle of preying on your friends and family.

There are some other systems already in place, and much more that still needs to be done. I'll post another status update when things progress much further, and will be posting feedback posts Soon™, where Goth patrons and higher can vote on certain features that I'm unsure about, so keep your eyes out for those.
