Never had a new Mac from the โ80s to smell but the polystyrene from Sinclairโs computer boxes instantly reminds me of receiving a new computer - either the ZX81 or ZX Spectrum - even though the computers were never kept in their original boxes, unlike some in my collection. As for solder fumes, โI love the smell of lead in the morningโฆโ Although itโs probably the smell of rosin flux evaporating that produces that nostalgic reaction.
